5 April 2013 UN in Ukraine Commemorates 19th Anniversary of Rwanda Genocide. Every April, the United Nations commemorates the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, where more than 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus are estimated to have been killed over a period of 100 days, starting on 7 April.

In Ukraine, the observance of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Rwanda Genocide took place in the form of a public event for students with screening of a documentary film "Duhozanye" about Rwandan women's association, followed by "Living Library" interactive discussion with experts. UNHCR meets Ukraine's Prime Minister

2 April 2013 Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov assured UNHCR Regional Representative for  Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine Oldrich Andrysek that Ukraine is to strengthen its efforts towards protecting the rights of refugees during the official meeting at the Government House.
