The UN Refugee Agency has presented children book about rights of people with disabilities

KYIV, Ukraine, 31 May 2017 (UNHCR). Today, ahead of the International Children’s Day, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has presented an illustrated book “Telling Children About the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities”. Because of the ongoing conflict in the eastern Ukraine, almost 58,000 people with disabilities had to flee their homes, and some 320,000 are remaining in the conflict areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

UNHCR’s third convoy brings aid to Luhansk

KYIV, Ukraine, 28 April 2017 (UNHCR). Yesterday, on 27 April, the UN Refugee Agency has sent its third humanitarian convoy this year to the city of Luhansk in eastern Ukraine. The convoy of 23 trucks brought shelter materials, clothes, and orthopedic aids for residents of the non-government controlled areas of Luhansk region.

UNHCR has supported opening of rehab center for persons with disabilities in Vinnytsia

VINNYTSIA, Ukraine, 27 March 2017 (UNHCR). UN Refugee Agency has provided technical assistance to “Ukraina” University in Vinnytsia to establish a Rehabilitation Center for persons with disability including IDPs and ATO veterans in the premises of University. Because of the project, about 500 persons with disabilities (including ATO veterans and IDPs) will be able to receive physical rehabilitation during the year.

UNHCR receives donation from Japan for shelter repairs projects

    

Kyiv, Ukraine, 31 March 2017 (UNHCR) – The Government of Japan has provided 330,000 USD to UNHCR for shelter repairs for conflict affected population in 2017 in eastern Ukraine. This contribution was announced during the official press conference in Kyiv on Friday, 31 March.

UNHCR and partners improved conditions at the crossing point Mayorsk

 

MAYORSK, Ukraine, 21 March 2017 (UNHCR). On Monday, March 20, Mayorsk crossing point has received technical assistance from UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and other international partners. Four new modules were installed at the crossing point footpaths to improve the conditions of the contact line crossing and decrease the waiting time for people.
