A Japanese artist, refugee children and IDPs have created a mural to support peace in Ukraine

KYIV, Ukraine, 11 July 2017 (UNHCR). The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) together with the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine have opened the mural of the Japanese artist Kensuke Miyazaki  at the Art-zavod Platforma.

Photo exhibit for World Refugee Day opens in Kyiv


To commemorate World Refugee Day in Kyiv, the UN Refugee Agency hosts a photo exhibition jointly organized with the Embassy of Canada to Ukraine and “The Right to Protection” NGO. The photo project highlights refugee’s life stories and their integration into local communities in Ukraine and in Canada. The exhibition is displayed on St. Sophia Square in Kyiv from June 20 until July 3 and then will visit other cities of Ukraine.


Gulliver building in Kyiv lit in blue with a call to stand #WithRefugees


On June 20 the façade of the multi-functional complex Gulliver in Kyiv has lightened up in blue with the call to stand #With Refugees. In this way, one of the tallest shopping and business centers in Kyiv has supported World Refugee Day.


World Refugee Day in Ukraine: events in Kyiv and regions


June 20 is the day the world commemorates the strength, courage, and perseverance of millions of refugees. Held every year, World Refugee Day also marks a key moment for the public to show support for families forced to flee.

This year, UNHCR together with government and civil society have organized an extensive programme of events in Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine.
