UNHCR calls for participants: Youth Empowerment Weekend

UNHCR is organizing a Youth Empowerment Weekend aiming at raising awareness on social inclusion and empowering young refugees and internally displaced youth (IDPs) to take an active role in their communities and contribute to positive change of the existing image about them.

The Youth Empowerment Weekend will take place on 29 September - 01 October 2017 in Kyiv or Odesa (to be further defined).

We are looking for young people of 16-25 years old among refugees, internally displaced persons or just active Ukrainians who are interested to take up initiatives in their local communities and supporting their empowerment as agents of change. Non-formal education methodology will be used. The main topics covered will be intercultural learning, re-thinking inclusion and active-citizenship.

Travel expenses:

Round-trip tickets will be provided to participants by UNHCR. Shuttle-buses from the bus/railway station will be organized for participants to reach the venue.  The participants should be present for the entire session. Participants attending less than 80%  of the total duration of the session will not be provided with the ticket for the way back.

Accommodation and Food[*]:

Accommodation in shared rooms and food (breakfast, lunch, dinner and two coffee-breaks) will be provided by UNHCR.

Working languages: English, or Ukrainian/Russian. Knowledge of one language only will suffice, as we will ensure throughout the sessions of the Week-End interpretation services, if needed.

* If you have any dietary food, please, feel free to bring it with yourself. We will do our best in order to provide gluten free option, but we still advise participants with special dietary needs to bring their own food, if possible. If you are not sure, please contact the prep team ahead of the study session.
