The aim of the project was to raise awareness on social inclusion and empower young refugees and internally displaced youth (IDPs) to take an active role in their communities and contribute to positive change of the existing image about them.

Diverse group was quickly united by team-spirit, where everyone felt accepted and valuable. Guided by an experienced and charismatic trainer, young people discussed the concepts of social inclusion and active citizenship. Interactive non-formal education format of the Weekend created a friendly and positive environment, where participants freely voiced their ideas and shared their opinions. As a result of the event, youth came up with several project ideas to be implemented by them in their communities, as active young citizens.

“I realized that no matter what kind of city you are from, what color is your skin, or which social group you belong to, the main thing is how you are positioning in a society and how inclusive you are. It is really very important”, shared Yana Bukovetska, one of the participants of the Weekend.
