The UNHCR largest convoy with aid has reached Luhansk


On Saturday, 10 December, UNHCR convoy with humanitarian assistance and shelter materials arrived to the city of Luhansk.

This is the largest convoy, organized by UNHCR with support of Logistics Cluster this year. The convoy consisted of 54 trucks carrying 721.4 metric tons of supplies for local residents, affected by the ongoing conflict. The trucks delivered 346 metric tons of shelter materials, 13,000 food parcels, 4,000 hygienic kits and diapers, as well as furniture, equipment and school items for 9 schools and 10 kindergartens

In 2017, UNHCR and partners will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to displaced and conflict affected population on the both side of the contact line to meet the most pressing needs based on the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, humanity and impartiality.

UNHCR, together with UN agencies and partners, remains ready to support authorities and communities in addressing the needs of IDPs and those in need of protection and assistance, wherever they may be.
