UNHCR delivers humanitarian aid to Krasniy Lyman

On 9 July 2014, the UNHCR Regional Representation for Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine delivered jointly with Donetsk regional authorities humanitarian aid to displaced persons in the town of  Krasnyi Lyman in Donetsk region.

A stock of food and hygenic items will be distributed by Mayor to the most vulnerable families. The delivery was provided at request of Donetsk Governor Taruta to assist some 5,200 displaced persons in Krasniy Lyman.

UNHCR is now assessing the needs of people in Slovyansk and Kramatorsk. Despite much evident hardship, and many specific individuals in need, the situation is not critical in the sense of being life saving. UNHCR will therefore concentrate on helping, in coordination with local authorities, people to re-establish their lives, including by assisting with small scale repairs of housing.

This is the second UNHCR delivery of relief items following the delivery of 20 metric tons of hygienic items and 20 tons of food to Sviatogorsk, that hosts some 16,000 displaced from the areas affected by violence.
